Different games - one name

When you become “BattleTag Friends” with someone, you have many convenient communication options at your disposal, just like Real Name friends. When your friend is online, you can see all of his characters, chat with him even if you play different games, invite him to groups, etc. For yourself, you can set the status that friends will see: “Online”, “Do not disturb” or “Away”.

Inter-game chat

BattleTag Friends can chat even if they are playing on different game worlds, factions, or different Blizzard games: World of Warcraft®, StarCraft® II, and Diablo III. With BattleTag you can also use interesting in-game options: for example, create a group in World of Warcraft with characters from different game worlds. In the future

Many of these BattleTag features will appear in Diablo III when the game officially launches. We are working on introducing them into other games: StarCraft II and World of Warcraft. The use of "Real Name" is completely voluntary. This is just another way of “self-determination” on Battle.net. If you indicate your real name, then it is easier for you to communicate with people with whom you already know in everyday life. When you become Real Name friends with someone, you can use additional communication options, just like on a social network.

Real names

Your Real Name friends appear in your World of Warcraft®, StarCraft® II, and Diablo® III friends lists under their normal first and last names. You can also see what game they are currently playing, what character they are playing, etc. In addition, the real name is shown in chat, when communicating in the game and in the character profile.
