How to use the Navitel program. Navitel - free GPS navigator for Android phones and tablets

Home / Browsers

Navitel is one of the most popular navigation programs among Russian motorists. This application is able to work in offline mode, as a result of which it helps drivers even in the absence of a stable and high-speed Internet connection. The Navitel interface is convenient and functional, so you can count on the successful completion of all necessary tasks.

Features of Navitel

Navitel is ideal for active work with maps, and application users can create and edit routes, receive up-to-date data on nearby infrastructure, traffic jams and even weather conditions. The high level of functionality contributed to the fact that the program turned out to be a worthy alternative for a car navigator installed as standard application on a smartphone or tablet.

Navitel is ideal for performing the following functional tasks:

  • control over the exact location, and you can even find out the coordinates;
  • determining the optimal path to get to the desired object;
  • the ability to avoid traffic jams, which guarantees savings in vehicle time and fuel;
  • successful search of any building without the need to navigate by plates with numbers;
  • eliminating the risk of getting lost in tricky city traffic intersections;
  • determining the location of a gas station, technical service center, hotel, cafe and any other necessary facilities;
  • location of speed control systems.

Navitel, designed for mobile devices in the operating room Android system, has a voice route guidance mode, the ability to send SMS about the exact coordinates of the location and the function of searching for the location of friends. A wide selection of maps of different cities allows you to expand the level of functionality of the navigation program to optimal levels.

Navitel interface features

When thinking about how to use Navitel on Android, you need to navigate the software interface. Displaying the map in 3D format guarantees beauty and maximum convenience, and the buttons for changing the scale, display mode and informing about traffic events make the work as easy and enjoyable as possible.

The lines available on the map are carefully drawn and very noticeable. You can easily monitor your location changes and use the map even while moving, but the screen diagonal of your Android device must be sufficient.

All buildings are displayed in 3D mode, but only as single-story ones. Buildings in major cities are displayed taking into account height and scale. In addition, drawn buildings that are government agencies or landmarks are available.

The nuances of working with routes

Attention! The Navitel program allows you to successfully work with routes, plotting a path from one point to another.

At the same time, you can see the average driving speed, the remaining distance and the approximate time of arrival. The Navitel navigation program allows you to learn in voice mode about all future turns and restrictions, and you can hear a reminder four times about the need to turn. The first time the voice notification will take place after the previous turn, the second time - 3 kilometers away, the third - 500 kilometers away, the last time - just before the turn. However, the customization options are still limited, so you have to put up with the initial characteristics, even if they are not satisfactory to some extent.

The easiest option for plotting a route is through a point on the map with GPS turned on. Initially, you need to determine the location, and then determine the optimal route taking into account the starting position. Initially, you should wait for the location to be determined, then select the destination and click on it. After the desired place card opens, all you have to do is click “Let’s go.” The route is laid out without delays, so you can hit the road right away.

The current version of the program is Navitel Navigator 7.5. The application pleases with its easy and pleasant interface, the ability to quickly use all the necessary functions. In addition, the installation of updates is carried out without entering Google Play, which ensures that new add-ons can be installed quickly. The Navitel program requires a minimum of energy, so the charge battery A smartphone lasts a long time. The Navitel program is ideal for experienced motorists.

Using Navitel is very convenient. Not just because it works offline, but also because its interface is quite convenient and functional. This article is entirely devoted to the description and use of the Navitel navigator. Next you can read detailed review applications and detailed instructions its application.

You can download Navitel on Google Play. And I’ll start my review.

Working with a map in Navitel

The Navitel navigator provides ample opportunities for working with maps. You can customize them in every possible way, create and edit routes, receive information about the environment: weather, traffic jams, establishments - and much more.

Navitel interface

The map is displayed beautifully, conveniently and in 3D. Right on the map itself there are buttons for adjusting the scale, display mode and traffic event.

All the lines on the map, one might say, are elegant - thin, clearly visible, convenient (regardless of the scale). Everything is quite clearly visible, even in motion (if, of course, the screen size of your device is at least 4 inches diagonally).

All buildings are displayed in 3D mode, although only as one-story ones, with the exception of large cities - where the height of the buildings is displayed in proportion to the scale. In addition, there are "traceable buildings", mainly government buildings and landmarks.

All POIs are displayed in full, and the information is constantly updated when the Internet is connected.

I found a bug here: throughout POI map from different buildings, when moving away they overlap each other. When the scale increases, this problem disappears. As you zoom out further, the icons overlap again.

But in general, I liked the interface. Now let's take a closer look at the routes.

Working with routes in Navitel

I’ll get ahead a little and describe the program interface while driving along the route.

  • You can see on the screen your average speed, the distance left to travel, and the approximate time of arrival.

  • In addition, the application constantly informs you in voice mode about future turns and restrictions. The first time after the turn - how long after the next turn, the second about 3 km before the turn, the third after 500 m and the last one just before the turn itself.
  • one of the main disadvantages of Navitel, in my opinion, is that it is not possible to regulate these indicators. But I'm sure the developers will fix this in the future.

How exactly to lay out the route is, in principle, clear. There are several ways. The simplest one first.

Through a point on the map

As you understand, in order to get directions, GPS must be turned on. This way the program will determine your location and build a route. It's simple, like this:

1. Wait until your location is determined. Then select a point on the map where you want to go. Click on it.

2. A card of the place (city, house or institution in the city) will open. There's a button there Let's go. Click on it. The route will be laid out immediately (the delay is not visible at all, and this is a huge plus).

Address route

1. You need to go to the main menu (green button in the lower left corner of the screen), select Route.

2. Then - point Create route. After this - By address. Now enter the address you need. By clicking on the result button, you will see exactly what is located at this address. Click Let's go.

3. The entire route will be displayed immediately, then your location will be displayed - you can go.

Route information and editing

So once you've created the route, you can of course:

1. View the route plan: all upcoming turns and points of passage.

2. Take a detour, on a different road. The program itself will determine exactly how you should go and change the route.

3. Simulate the route. Interesting feature, to be honest, I don’t understand why it is needed. Perhaps it can be used somehow when there are no satellites nearby.

4. Change the route. For example, in order to go somewhere. This is done like this:

  • select on the map the place where you want to go (place the cursor);
  • go to his card;
  • press Stop by. The route will be changed according to your choice.

5. Highlight the necessary POIs along the route, down to individual establishments. To do this:

  • place the cursor at the desired place on the route;
  • go to the main menu and select the item Find;
  • Now Nearest And Cursor;

  • select the desired type (see the picture below), the points will be displayed. By clicking on one of them, you will see it on the map. Now you can, for example, go there.

Displaying the information panel in Navitel and setting it up

To be honest, I liked almost everyone the interface. I’ll say right away that the quick menu panel (at the top of the screen) has icons for almost all frequently needed functions, namely:

1. With one click you can open the menu for adjusting the map display. Here you can change the display (2D, 3D), change the interface theme, and determine the display direction. In the latter case there are only two possible options: The map can rotate depending on the route you are driving, or it can be always displayed with north facing up.

2. Clicking on small speaker, you can turn the sound on or off. If you go to the sound settings from the same menu, you can also adjust the volume level and select the audio stream mode.

3. You can also communicate through Navitel. Add a chat with another person from your contacts. You can correspond with him. Here's an example. True, if the other person does not have the Navitel application on their device, the answer will come as a regular message and will not appear in your chat in any way - this is the first flaw.

4. Here you can use all the features of add-ons Navitel. Friends/Cloud. But to do this, you first need to register.

5. The antenna icon, firstly, shows you the quality of the connection, secondly, it allows you to see the simplest emulation of the signal strength with each satellite, and thirdly, it allows you to turn GPS on/off.

The quality of communication with satellites is determined by their number:

  • if the antenna is red, it means there is access to less than 4 satellites. As a result, there is no connection at all;
  • if the antenna is yellow, the application managed to connect to the minimum number of satellites required for operation;
  • if the antenna is green, there are plenty of satellites.

6. By clicking on the battery icon, you will see the battery level (in percentage) and the amount of free space in your device's memory.
7. Here you can track the weather for the next five days.
8. There is also a clock in the upper right corner. Here you can change the display format.

Based on the above, I will say that this navigator will be convenient to use in a car when your device is secured in the holder - there is quick access to all important functions. All basic data is also displayed on the map screen.

Navitel settings

By calling the function menu (bottom left corner of the screen), you can go to Settings. I would like to immediately note that this menu is very convenient - from the speed of operation to the size of the buttons.

In the settings menu, you can do literally everything:

1. In section Map You can make map settings: display, smoothing, automatic scaling, tilt, display of 3D models.

Note: If you just want to look at the map without moving, I advise you to turn off auto-return for this time - it will constantly return the map to the position where you are. And for the future, set auto-return to 10 seconds (initially it was set to 5 seconds).

2. In section Other cards you can download other atlases. For example, this could be a detailed atlas of some area where you are going to travel. To do this, click Add atlas and select its location on your device.

3. In the section Navigation you can choose:

  • type of transport. Depending on this, the application’s further work with you will be based;
  • method of determining and reassigning a route;
  • various settings for selecting types of roads for driving and more.

4. Section Interface makes it possible to customize the quick menu (described in the paragraph above) and the display theme.

5. Section POI filtering allows you to determine which service establishments will be displayed on the map. For example, you can turn off the display of fast foods.

You can also edit the category itself, for example, Food. Click on the gear on the right - Edit all "Food". Basically, the display is adjusted here depending on the scale.

6. Section Online services will allow you to configure:

  • working with the Internet;
  • displaying traffic jams and working with information about them;
  • weather display;
  • display of traffic events and information about objects;
  • additions Navitel.Friends/Cloud.

7. In the section Warning All sorts of warnings for you are configured by the application, ranging from speeding to traffic conditions SpeedCam.

Note: I couldn’t help but point out that the application only uses its own keyboards. And in comparison with the standard Android keyboard, which is familiar to everyone, they are not very convenient. This is so because of the unusual arrangement of letters.

9. In section System GPS, time and sound are configured.

10. There are also sections Sensors(average speed, travel time, etc.), Tracks(settings for saving the driving route), Copyright.

In my opinion, you can configure anything in this program. And this is certainly a big plus. At the same time, I would like to note that although there are quite a lot of settings, they are easy to understand. There is no overload, nothing superfluous.

Brief summary

If you read my review, you could definitely notice that Navitel is very convenient and functional application. And now you know everything you need to use it. Therefore, install and use. Good luck!

Licensing policy

The product is intended for installation on one device. Cards are purchased for use with one product.

The product can be re-registered to any other device three times. The exception is the iOS product (iPhone and iPad), which can be transferred five times, but only to Apple devices. All other versions can be transferred three times, to any operating system except iOS.

You can use the product on three devices of one user, but this violates the license. That was the answer technical support.

We believe that the terms of use of the program, and especially the maps, are not conducive to licensed use. We also note that there is a practice of ceasing support for devices if their manufacturer/distributor suddenly ceases to be acceptable to CST JSC. Thus, buyers of car navigators released under the Navitel brand are in a preferable position.

Navigation program capabilities

In this article we will take a detailed look at all the capabilities provided by the Navitel Navigator navigation program. The test device will be Garmin-ASUS A10, which also visited our laboratory. Accordingly, we will take the Navitel Navigator version 5.5.1.0 (special thanks to the technical support service of CST CJSC, which extended the test period, which made it possible to complete testing on licensed version programs). Versions for other devices and operating systems may have some differences, we do not have the opportunity to consider them all.

During testing and taking screenshots, we tried to use the default settings as much as possible. In order to save Internet traffic and save relatively compact size article, most screenshots are opened via text links (just click on the link, the screenshot will open in a pop-up window without reloading the page), the total size of graphics in the article is 5 MB.

The default Navitel skin was used in the daytime version. The night version of the skin is designed to reduce the glare of the driver's eyes when driving in the dark.

During testing there was no need for night mode; the backlight level was minimal navigation device Provides comfortable viewing even in complete darkness. There are five skins and many available on the program’s official website.

Starting from version 5.5.x.x, Navitel Navigator has received an updated interface. A status bar has appeared, where icons for setting the display mode, sound, online services, as well as the battery indicator and clock have moved.

To build a route, you need to specify the type of transport and routing options. You can select the following options: “Pedestrian”, “Bicycle”, “Car/Motorcycle”, “Taxi”, “Bus”, “Rescue Service”, “Delivery Service”, “Truck”. Despite all the variety of choices, the behavior of the router was not entirely adequate. For example, for a truck, the route was built through the third transport ring, and a pedestrian made a multi-kilometer detour to turn around on the highway. It was completely incomprehensible to us, and even the technical support service could not clearly explain what was special about routing for taxis and delivery services. In our opinion, an ideal navigation product should have the following options:

  • pedestrian (walks through courtyards and roads as desired and crosses pedestrian crossings);
  • public transport (routing taking into account public transport stops);
  • bicycle (the route is laid mainly along bicycle paths);
  • car/motorcycle (standard routing);
  • a truck weighing up to (value) tons, height up to (value) meters, transportation of dangerous goods (restriction signs, tunnels, bridges are taken into account).

Regular buses, as well as special services, we hope, do not use navigation systems, and unnecessary options only confuse the user and increase the likelihood of errors. The following route options are available - avoid U-turns, avoid toll roads, avoid dirt roads, avoid ferry crossings. Routing can be either on roads or directly (paragliders and mushroom pickers will be happy). You can choose a route building strategy, create a short or fast route. Based on the results of field testing, I would like to have more options for constructing a route, for example: shortest, shortest (on roads, but without yards), optimal (a compromise between the number of maneuvers and distance), convenient (with a minimum of maneuvers) and fast. In the current version, the short route is built through courtyard driveways, which is contrary to traffic regulations and is completely useless, due to the large number of map errors in courtyards. The option to avoid toll roads works, but it seems right to us to add one more item - “ask”. For ferry crossings, operating hours should be taken into account and the user should be warned about this. Competitive products have a long history of successfully using scheduled overlaps.

During route guidance, the following is shown on the left side of the screen (from top to bottom): an indicator for the next maneuver, indicating the distance; time to finish, distance to finish and estimated time of arrival. Field testing showed very accurate timing, for example, on a trip over a distance of 340 kilometers, the arrival time was predicted with an accuracy of about 5 minutes. When the Navitel.Traffic service was enabled, the travel time was calculated taking into account the presence of traffic jams. Earlier versions of Navitel Navigator calculated time based on the current speed, which in traffic jams resulted in completely wild days and weeks on the road. The “route” menu item will show us the route plan, and when using the Navitel.Traffic service, the route line, as on the map, will be colored in the colors of the resulting traffic jams. A list of all maneuvers along the route is also available, but, unfortunately, clicking on a maneuver does not show this section on the map. The distance to the maneuver is indicated, but not the time. The route can be saved in Garmin and OziExplorer format, as well as downloaded, and the choice of data formats for import is very large. Through the quick route menu, you can turn on the detour mode; the program will re-create the route, as if there was a traffic jam ahead along the route. In addition, through the route quick menu, you can enable route simulation. During the simulation, you can see the estimated speeds on the current section of the road, but information about traffic jams received through the Navitel.Traffic Service is not taken into account during the simulation. You won’t be able to find out what the color of the mash is in this way. At multi-lane junctions, information about the recommended driving lane is displayed before the maneuver.

While driving, the map scale may change to show more detailed picture at low speed and zooming out as speed increases. Automatic scale adjustment is very convenient; you can set the minimum and maximum scales, as well as the preferred scale. The delay in transition to the calculated scale when the user changes the scale is also set.

You can change the orientation of the map, switch the map view and change the skin to night using the “compass” icon on the status bar or in the “map” menu. Day/night skins can be switched automatically or manually. Unfortunately, in new version The option “rotate the map along the route” has been removed and the map rotates only according to the motion vector received from the GPS receiver.

Navitel Navigator can issue warnings about speeding and when approaching a stationary speed camera. Warnings can be configured separately: for speed and for cameras. The threshold for audio and visual alerts can be adjusted separately; the alert speed can be adjusted in increments of 10 km/h. It should be taken into account that the program does not know local, let alone time, restrictions, which means you cannot completely rely on it. New alerts are coming soon, in particular about speed bumps and no overtaking signs.

Voice prompts

Settings for voice prompts come down to choosing a voice, setting the warning time, and setting up the device's sound subsystem. Streaming audio settings may not be available on some operating systems. In particular, this option does not work on Windows Mobile. The standard delivery includes four voices: female English, male Russian, female Russian and female Turkish. Before installing the voice, you can listen to a short fragment by clicking on the speaker icon. The choice of Turkish as one of the preinstalled languages is very strange. For a basic product, Tajik Belarusian or Ukrainian is much better suited. On the technical support site you can download sound schemes for various languages. There are seven Russian-speaking voices alone, and there are also recorded ones. The moment at which the sound prompt is given is configurable; you can adjust the time at which the prompt is pronounced - in advance or immediately before the maneuver.

In general, the voice guidance along the route is done quite well, but during field testing some peculiarities were noticed. Yes, the system voice messages voices large distances with rounding. When driving on the highway, periodically, like a broken record, the message “continue driving 150 km” sounded, after a while a voice prompt about 125 kilometers began to play. We believe that in 2012 it is possible to make a speech synthesizer with any numerals or display the message “continue driving more than 100 km,” which will be more understandable and not misleading.

Sensors

During operation, the program controls many navigation and system parameters. This data can be seen by going to the “Sensors” menu.

In total, depending on the orientation of the device, eight or sixteen sensors can be displayed simultaneously in landscape mode and nine or eighteen in portrait mode. Each sensor can be selected from a variety of available ones. A total of fourteen categories are available, each of which has from several to several dozen measured parameters. Some parameters may be of interest only to a specialist, but many will also be useful to an inquisitive car enthusiast. In fact, this is a full-fledged trip computer in your navigation device.

Tracks

The program can record GPS tracks and export them in MapSource or GPX format. A track is a time sequence of points for determining navigation coordinates. The button for quick track recording can be displayed on the status bar.

Online services

Navitel.Traffic- the service allows you to display and take into account the traffic situation. Collecting information from users, Navitel Navigator shows roads with congestion in red, and roads with difficult traffic in yellow. There are 4 gradations in total - traffic jam, difficult traffic, heavy traffic and open road. In addition, the Navitel.Traffic service can transmit temporary traffic closures on a specific section of the road. We don’t know how overlaps are displayed on the map, or whether they are displayed at all. In the new version of Navitel Navigator, the route line, like Yandex.Navigator, is colored in a color that characterizes congestion along the route.

The traffic situation is collected from the entire road network, and not just for large cities, such as Yandex.Traffic. Information is updated every 5 minutes. The size of the data block received during one communication session (RF map) ranges from 150 KB in the morning and night hours, to 500 KB in the daytime and evening. The data block sent to the server is much smaller, 5-10 KB. Accordingly, during the daytime the service generates traffic of about 5 MB per hour, which at retail prices is mobile internet is about 40 rubles, and according to tariffs optimized for data transfer, about 8 rubles. The main disadvantage of the Navitel.Traffic service, in our opinion, is the very little detail of traffic information. This allows the summary to be transmitted across the entire map without greatly increasing the size of the transmitted data. But for high-quality automatic routing, the detail of the data is very important. Repeated testing of anti-antivirus services has proven this, and Navitel Navigator has made no changes for the better over the past few years. Here is a clear example when a completely unreasonable detour is proposed, despite the fact that there are no congestions at the desired junction. “Navitel Navigator” with the Navitel.Traffic service lays monstrously suboptimal routes, the addition of courtyard driveways has further aggravated the problem. It seems to us that it is necessary to increase the speed detail on the arc, coupled with regional zoning to reduce the amount of transmitted data. It is also strongly recommended to set the speed in courtyard passages to 5 km/h in order to exclude detour routes through courtyards and gas stations. Currently, judging by the simulation, the speed of travel on courtyard driveways is 40 km/h. Nevertheless, the Navitel.Traffic service is quite suitable for visual orientation in traffic conditions, although, in our opinion, the traffic situation in mobile Yandex.Maps looks somewhat more readable.

Service Navitel.Weather allows you to view the weather forecast anywhere in the world. In navigation mode, the weather is displayed on the map by zones with an image (clear, rainy, cloudy) and temperature value.

Service Dynamic POI Navitel allows you to receive detailed up-to-date information about the POI of service partners. It is stated that using the service you can find out fuel prices and movie show schedules of service partners. The partners of the service at the time of testing, judging by the information posted on the official website, are gas stations Lukoil and Tatneft, as well as the cinema chains Karo Film, Formula Kino and 5 Stars. A check of the service showed a lack of detailed information as stated, such as fuel prices and movie show schedules.

For a number of POIs of declared partners there was no information at all, and from some others it was possible to find out the phone number and website address. By clicking on the corresponding icon, you can transfer the number to the standard dialing program, and the link to the browser. The service is interesting, and we hope that in the future it will be in demand both among users and among potential partners. Information for dynamic POIs is transmitted only when requested, so traffic is minimal. Among the suggestions for the service, we can recommend highlighting POI icons on the map that contain information.

Service Navitel.SMS allows you to exchange messages between users, including to determine each other's current location. Without leaving Navitel Navigator, you can enter data such as the recipient's number, name of the place, its description and exact coordinates. The recipient number can be entered manually or selected from notebook phone.

There are two types of SMS messages - sending your coordinates “I’m here” and requesting the coordinates of another user - “Where are you?”. Incoming SMS with the request “Where are you?” appears on the screen awaiting user confirmation. Unfortunately, the Navitel.SMS service is not available for devices running on the Bada and iOS operating systems. It remains to be desired to make it possible to select the location of the finish from the address book and an automatic meeting mode (automatic periodic receipt of the subscriber’s location via SMS requests or via the Internet).

Service Navitel.Events allows users to mark and see on the map other users' markings of various traffic events. There are four types of events: accidents, road works, mobile cameras speed control, other warnings.

For accidents and road works, it is possible to select a row (right, left, middle). The alert system uses voting to determine the relevance of an event. By default, the event is valid for 3 hours, each confirmation adds 30 minutes and 1 point. Each rebuttal deducts 1 point. The text of the message is moderated. We consider the disadvantage of the service to be the inability to set filters for warnings and scores. Thus, there is a lack of ability to set conditions - for example, to show only mobile cameras with a rating of 2 points or more. In addition, in our opinion, it would be more correct if the warning message appears in a pop-up window for some time required for confirmation. In the current implementation, the number of confirmations and refutations, it seems, will not be enough. It would also be useful to limit the number of points per warning; 3-5 points are probably enough. After all, if an accident happened, say, an hour ago and received 20 points of confirmation, then to remove it, you will need 20 points of refutation, which is completely unrealistic, which means the warning will hang on the map for an extra two hours.

You can download the update of the program and maps, as well as buy the necessary maps through the My Navitel menu. It should be taken into account large size map update file, so, for example, the map of Russia weighs more than two gigabytes. There is no point in downloading it via GPRS/EDGE, and even via 3G you will have to download it overnight. But over Wi-Fi, receiving the card took less than five minutes. We find it somewhat strange to move the “My Navitel” item to the main menu, because there are only four items in it and “My Navitel” is by no means the most popular. Putting “Sensors” there seems to us to be a more correct solution.

Conclusions

After testing one of the most popular in the Russian Federation navigation systems we are left with an ambivalent feeling. On the one hand, simple and clear interface, nice design, many features, some of which are unique. On the other hand, there is a feeling that many features were added to the program on the principle “to make it like everyone else,” without carefully thinking through the implementation of these features and promoting the implemented services to the market. The cartographic coverage is extensive and detailed, which certainly wins the souls and wallets of consumers. However, during the process of using the product, frequent errors and very rare updating of cards will cause many unpleasant moments for the user of the program. Although a completely error-free navigation map is impossible even theoretically. The mechanism for updating the map by the user, in our opinion, should be built into the navigation software, which claims to have the quality of cartographic coverage, especially since JSC "CNT", meeting its users halfway, conducts

Detailed review mobile application"Navitel Navigator for Android": setting up GPS on your phone, adding maps, setting up the navigator to work without the Internet

Navitel Navigator: questions and answers

Will the navigator for Android work without the Internet?

Answer. Yes, an Internet connection is only required to download and update Navitel. Directly during operation, the navigator requires a connection to satellites and the presence of downloaded maps on the mobile device. If they are not there, then the navigator will not work correctly both in the local environment and when connected to the Internet.

Does it make sense to download free Navitel from pirated sites?

Answer. Definitely not. Firstly, no one forbids you to use official version GPS navigator in demo mode. True, this period lasts 7 days, but during this time you will be able to fully familiarize yourself with all its functions. Pirate version does not allow you to download and update maps of cities and countries. Since a license for Navitel Navigator does not cost that much money, we recommend using this option. This guarantees technical support, as well as regular and free map updates.

Navitel - time-tested

Navitel Navigator is a GPS navigation tool for mobile devices and, perhaps, one of the most popular applications in its class. And this fame is well deserved, since Navitel, according to many car enthusiasts, is the best program among analogues. Developed in 2006 Russian company“Center for Navigation Technologies”, the Navigator is constantly being improved, “overgrown” with useful features and various convenient little things, and in addition, it is quickly updated. Just a year ago, Navitel Navigator 5.5.1.0 Android, iOS and Windows CE versions were released, and today Navitel 7 is already relevant.

What is Navitel Navigator?

Let's find out better what this program is and where it is used. From the name it is clear that the application allows you to use a smartphone or tablet as an alternative to a car navigator, and is a tool that will always allow you to know:

  • where exactly are you located;
  • how to take the shortest route or get to your destination;
  • how to avoid traffic jams and thereby save fuel;
  • how to find the right house if there is no sign with the number on it;
  • how not to get lost in the intricacies of city transport interchanges;
  • where is the nearest gas station, cafe, service center and other important facilities, even if you are in an unfamiliar area;
  • where speed control systems are located and much more.

And besides, Navitel Navigator for Android has voice mode tracking along the route, the ability to send SMS notifications about your coordinates, it is also equipped with a function to search for the location of friends and many maps of various cities that the user selects and installs.

Program interface

Navitel Navigator versions

A lot of time has passed since the first release of Navigator, and many changes have been made to the program since then. We won’t dwell on outdated versions, but consider what’s new in the last few, the most frequently used today.

Navitel Navigator 5.0

In addition to some interface changes compared to the previous release, Navitel Navigator 5.0 Android version can use maps of the updated nm3 format with an accelerated object indexing function. In addition, the program has slightly improved algorithms for constructing routes and analyzing maneuvers. There is a new function for automatically scaling the map while driving, and the Navitel.Traffic service now shows temporarily blocked roads. Plus, a sensitivity setting for leaving the route has been added.

Navitel Navigator 5.5

This version has a completely updated interface, a redesigned settings menu, access to updates and information about your licenses directly from the program window, as well as a new Route widget that allows you to easily save and edit your travel routes and add any number of waypoints to them. In addition, Navitel Navigator 5.5 for Android has improved the search function (by the beginning of words), which only works with new maps, and has improved overall stability and reliability.

Navitel Navigator 5.5.1.0

The functionality of this version has become even more accurate and informative: now the route line displays all the traffic jams on your way and, based on this, the function of constructing routes to bypass traffic jams along the shortest road has changed significantly. A number of errors have been fixed, the design of some pages has been changed and some settings have been improved.

Navitel Navigator 7.5

To date - the last, most current version programs. The interface has been significantly simplified - everything unnecessary has been removed, so now you can learn to work with the navigator literally right away. Installing updates has become available from the program itself, without going to Google Play. And, what is significant, Navitel Navigator 7 for Android has become less energy-consuming, which allows you to use the device’s battery power longer. This version also added support for Android 4.2 and fixed minor bugs. Plus there are a lot of small but useful additions.

Installation and first launch of Navitel Navigator

Before installing the program, you need to get the distribution kit from somewhere. It can be purchased on Google Play, on the manufacturer’s website, or in stores selling software- boxed version. For the first 30 days, the opportunity to use the application is free, then you will have to pay about 750 rubles to purchase the distribution kit and a map of one of the federal districts. Other cards must be purchased separately.

It should be noted that the Navitel Navigator program for Android itself takes up about 45 Mb of storage space, and maps can “weigh” hundreds of times more. Thus, the “All Russia” map as a single file has a size of 1.7 GB.

The installation process of the application is not complicated - it is simple and understandable to any user. So, having launched the installer, we wait for the installation to complete. All necessary settings the program does it itself, and establishes a connection with the satellite. And these settings do not need to be changed unnecessarily.

After installing the distribution kit and the map, you can start using the Navigator. To create the desired route, you just need to use either the destination search system or enter the address manually. Or you can select from a list of POIs - points of “interest” (Poitns Of Interests), which includes objects of the groups “car”, “food”, “trade”, “entertainment”, etc.

After specifying the place “where to go,” the program builds the optimal route and displays a map on the display. All you have to do is press the “Drive” button and stick to the path. While driving, the display provides various information prompts. They are also repeated in the voice of the announcer (which the user chooses from the vote bank). As you move towards your goal, the map scrolls smoothly so that a realistic idea of your location is created.

If while driving there is a need to turn somewhere, that is, change the route, you need to indicate a new final goal and click the “Drive” button. The route will be rebuilt. Next, clicking “Continue” will return you to your previous route.

The latest version of the program, unlike previous ones, does not inform the driver that he has gone astray when this happens, but “silently” rearranges the route.

Navitel Navigator for Android has its own traffic jam information service, which is created by the traffic participants themselves - the users of the program. The application evaluates not only the location of the traffic jam, but also its density. And all this is taken into account when constructing the route.

Impressions from using Navitel Navigator

Judging by the reviews, many of those who started using the trial version of the program subsequently had a desire to buy it, since Navitel is actually a very convenient assistant on the road. Even despite the many free analogues, Navigator services are much different from them in terms of convenience, accuracy and speed for the better. Moreover, the application is multi-platform, and Navitel Android Navigator OS - versions can be used on most smartphones and tablets that work under this system.
