How to disassemble and reassemble the keyboard on a laptop and computer for cleaning. Disassembling and cleaning the keyboard yourself Disassembled keyboard

Home / Doesn't work

Let's start with the most simple ways, which do not require disassembling the keyboard. They are suitable for daily cleaning to keep the keyboard in good condition. If the keys are pressed every other time, and a new life is already emerging in the device, immediately proceed to the next option, where we tell you how to disassemble and safely clean the keyboard.

Treatment with detergents

The first and most obvious solution is to wipe the case and keys with detergent. For this purpose, special wipes for caring for equipment or alcohol are suitable, you can also take regular dishwashing detergent or shampoo. The main thing is not to use caustic chemicals intended for cleaning plumbing. They may contain alkalis that are dangerous for plastic, which, at best, will erase the paint from the keyboard, and at worst, damage the case.

Then everything is simple - take a microfiber cloth or a regular rag that you use to wipe off dust, moisten it with soapy water and wipe the device thoroughly. Use cotton swabs or a soft-bristled brush to clean between the keys.

Cleaning with compressed air

If you like to eat over your keyboard, there are probably a lot of crumbs accumulated in it. They can be blown out with compressed air - a can of it is sold in any large hardware store. This option is more suitable for mechanical keyboards whose keys are raised high above the body. Low laptop keyboards are best disassembled or vacuumed.

Vacuuming

A portable (aka car) vacuum cleaner will not only help you clean furniture or the inside of your car, but will also pull out all the crumbs and dust from under the keyboard keys. For example, the Bosch PAS 18 LI Set model comes with a special crevice tool for hard-to-reach places and a brush that will help clean the entire space between the keys.

Disassembling the keyboard

This is a method for those who haven’t cleaned their keyboard for a long time, have spilled something on it, or just want to do some “spring cleaning.” The main thing is to be patient, because after disassembly you will have to return all the keys to their place.

Removing the keycaps will be quite simple - use the special pliers tool that came with the device, or regular tweezers. If you have a mechanical keyboard, under the keys you will see switches that hide contacts. If you have a membrane keyboard, there will be rubber inserts under the keycaps, that is, the membrane itself.

Some keys—especially the long spaces and keys—are reinforced with springs or a metal bracket that attaches to either side of the key. This is necessary to distribute pressure evenly so that the button works even if you press it not in the center, but from the edge. Don't be afraid to remove these mounts - they're easy to put back on.

Typically, the switches themselves and the membrane are clean enough that you only need to clean the keyboard body. But don’t rush to take your gadget into the shower - not all models are waterproof. Most high-travel mechanical keyboards have special edges that protect the switch contacts from moisture. Such devices can be quickly washed under the tap, dried with a towel and returned to their original condition.

Membrane ones, on the contrary, are best kept away from moisture - wipe them wet wipe, being careful not to fill it with water or detergents. Wash the caps separately, dry them thoroughly and return them to their rightful places, using a little force.

As for the multimedia keys, if they are hidden under the same caps as the main ones, clean them according to the same principle. If they are permanent, wipe down the top or use a handheld vacuum cleaner.

Tips for technical cleaning:

If your input device has not been tested by spilled liquid, this is not a reason to relax. Prevention of keyboard breakdowns should be periodic and systematic. This especially applies to a laptop.

Cleaning the keyboard when it's lightly dirty

The presence of dust and small dry debris is light contamination that requires superficial cleaning. For this cleansing you need:

  1. Disconnect the PC from the power source. U desktop computer disconnect the keyboard. Remove the battery from the laptop.
  2. If the computer is normal, turn the keyboard over and shake it. This will get rid of large crumbs. For a laptop, you need to skip this step.
  3. Use a hairdryer or vacuum cleaner to blow out small crumbs and dust. In this case, you can help remove dirt with a soft paint brush.
  4. Wipe the buttons with special wipes or a damp cloth.

It is advisable to carry out such cleaning of devices once a week and preferably combine it with cleaning the house.

Important!

You can only blow the keyboard with cold air!

Cleansing moderate pollution

If you notice small debris under the buttons and the buttons are greasy, then this is a medium level of contamination. To eliminate such contamination you need:

  1. Promptly disconnect the PC from power. Disconnect the keyboard from the computer. Remove the battery from the laptop.
  2. Turn the keyboard of a regular computer over and shake it. This way, get rid of large crumbs. For a laptop, you don’t need to carry out this procedure.
  3. Use a vacuum cleaner or hairdryer to blow out dust and small crumbs. You can use a soft paint brush to remove dirt.
  4. Remove fatty deposits from the keys with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol.

It is advisable to clean the device with alcohol once a month. At the same time, you will get rid of not only fat, but also germs.

Important!

Before cleaning with alcohol, make sure that the liquid does not erase the letters!

Deep cleaning the keyboard

If you notice sticking keys or some buttons do not respond to pressing, it is time for a deep cleaning of the keyboard. To do this, it must be disassembled. But first, don’t forget to take a photo of it assembled.

How to do a “spring cleaning” of the keyboard on your computer

How to do a “spring cleaning” of a laptop’s built-in keyboard

Laptop buttons sticking or not working is a problem. But if dust and dirt get deeper, this is already a disaster. The laptop may start to shut down due to overheating if contamination gets on the radiator. If moisture gets inside, internal parts may fail. laptop computer. Therefore, it is advisable for every owner to learn how to do “spring cleaning” of their gadget.

How to disassemble the keyboard on a laptop

This job involves carefully removing the laptop keys. It is more convenient to start extracting from the standard alphabetic keys at the bottom of the keyboard. Next, go to non-standard:

  1. Disconnect the laptop from the power source and remove the battery.
  2. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry up the bottom edge of the alphabet key. The tool must fit between the key mount and its inner surface.
  3. Remove the button levers from the grooves. To do this, press on the junction of the antennae and pry the button. You should hear a click when unpinning is successful.
  4. Wide buttons, such as Enter and Shift, have, unlike standard ones, two fastening mechanisms. To unfasten such buttons you need to hook them on both sides.
  5. The long Space key, in addition to two latches, can be attached with a metal amplifier. To remove it, you first need to disconnect the amplifier on the sides, then near the bottom edge of the button, working from left to right. Next, proceed as in the case of alphabetic keys.

Important!

If removing non-standard keys is problematic for you, leave them in place!

How to clean a disassembled laptop keyboard

In this case, you need to not only clean the buttons, but also. To do this you need:

  1. Wash the keys in warm water and detergent. It is convenient to use a clean sock in which you can fold the buttons. Soak in detergent, rinse under running water.
  2. Clean the key attachment points with a cotton swab dipped in water. The inside of the keyboard can be blown with a cold hairdryer.

  3. After drying, do not take risks by checking the operation of the laptop by turning it on yourself.
  4. Send the PC to a service center for diagnostics. A thoroughly dried device remains operational in 90% of cases.

To summarize, we emphasize that periodic cleaning of the gadget will help avoid breakdowns and prolong its life. Avoid situations that could cause the device to malfunction. Remember: cleanliness of equipment is the key to its smooth operation.

You don’t have to disassemble the case, but just remove the buttons and wash them, and clean the case itself with napkins and cotton swabs. But after looking at my keyboard in bright light, I decided not to engage in masochism with cotton swabs, but to completely disassemble it and wash it properly. Don't forget to take a photo of the keyboard before you start disassembling it; using the picture will make it a little easier to place the buttons in their places. :-)

It is strictly not recommended to wash the keyboard full immersion into the water without disassembling it. At least, such as in the photo below, because the new keyboards may be designed somewhat differently. Since the design of such keyboards resembles a layer cake, which consists of several films with contacts and a rubber mat with buttons. Therefore, the water that gets between them will, to some extent, close all the contacts, and besides, this cake will take several months to dry without disassembling the keyboard.

The Mitsumi keyboard is over five years old and works flawlessly.

This is what she looks like before bathing.

I removed the buttons by simply picking at one edge with a screwdriver, did not dig it deep, and with my other hand held the button to be removed on the opposite side so that the button would not break but would rise vertically until it came off the latches.

The “Space” key has a latch in the middle, which means we pick the button not by the edge, but in the middle.

The buttons have been removed, now the black soil that has accumulated under the buttons over the years of operation has become even better visible :-)

We turn over and unscrew all the screws, they are of different shapes, some around the perimeter and others in the center.

Remove the back cover.

We unscrew the iron fastener with the rubber seal glued to it, thereby releasing the rubber mat with buttons and the backing of three sheets, with all the routing of the tracks to the buttons.

We take out this entire “mattress” entirely. :-)

We take out the board, it no longer holds.

Almost everything is ready for swimming :-)

All that remains is to remove the springs and metal brackets from the largest buttons.

It’s difficult to mix up the staples, but it doesn’t hurt to be careful when reinstalling them. :-)

That's all for disassembly, put the buttons in a bag and go for a swim.

I poured a little warm water into the bag and poured in a handful of Persil, mixed the whole thing thoroughly, oddly enough, but five minutes of stirring was enough and not a trace of grease and dirt remained on the buttons. I cleaned the body with a brush, still with the same powder, but the paper stickers, one on top and a couple of factory ones on the bottom, did not withstand such a bath. It took about 15 minutes to wash.

Rinse.

Shake the water off the buttons, especially from the inner cavity of the latch, and dry it.

I thought that I would spend a lot of time on washing the case and buttons, but it turned out that most of the time I spent on assembling this puzzle of tags. I'm not much of a programmer, because in the light and with photography I spent a long time fiddling with arranging the buttons in their places :-)

The hardest part is over, now the most enjoyable part, assembly. :-)

Everything is in reverse order, board, mattress, fasteners. Before installing the board, I washed the keyboard wire.

The cover is in place.

We clean the brackets from old grease and dirt.

We return the springs and brackets to their place.

I lubricated the contact points of the brackets with the buttons and the body with oil; if there is no oil, then you can skip this step, whatever kind of oil it is better not to pour (the oil should not corrode the plastic). For this I used bourgeois silicone oil, when I bought it, I was told that it was not aggressive to plastic.

We put the buttons in place, I started with the large ones, since their installation is a little more complicated, you need to make sure that the springs fall into their seats on the body, the brackets along the guides fall under the hooks on the body, and then press the key itself into the latch until it clicks.

Now the keyboard looks like new. I took these photos with a flash, with it the colors are closer to reality.

Manufacturers have different keyboard designs, so it may not be as easy for you as it was for me, but for owners of standard keyboards this topic may be useful.

Often many users personal computers wondering how to clean the keyboard at home. The keyboard is considered the most easily broken device in a computer or laptop. It reflects all the results of improper use. Crumbs and dust particles getting between the keys is inevitable with regular use. Computers have become such a part of human life that most people often do not look away from them even while eating. This leads to the entry of food particles. How to clean your keyboard yourself at home?

Preventative measures will help increase service life and ensure correct work. There are certain cases when cleaning becomes a must.

It is necessary to take action if:
  1. The keys become stuck and stick. They continue to remain in the pressing stage.
  2. The buttons do not respond to movement. To get the result you need to press the key several times.
  3. Buttons, the space between them is stained and dirty.
  4. When you press the keys, an unpleasant creak is heard.
  5. If you can see with the naked eye that there are a lot of crumbs, sticky dirt between the buttons, there are traces of liquid ingress.

You need to clean not only the outside, but also the inside of the device. The difficulty of holding the event is that any keyboard, both on a computer and on a laptop, must be completely disassembled. To avoid difficulties and not lead to breakdown, it is necessary to disassemble the device carefully and correctly.

It is important to know how to safely clean the contacts without damaging the fasteners. Any wrong movement will damage the keyboard!

Disassembling the device on a computer and laptop differs from each other. How to properly disassemble the keyboard?

To clean the keys on your laptop, you must follow these steps:

  1. It is recommended to take a photo of the keyboard before starting work so that you can easily restore the location of the keys, so you can assemble it faster.
  2. The battery must be removed.
  3. Each key is attached using a microlift. To disconnect them, you must carefully remove the plastic top part.
  4. To clean your keyboard from dirt, you need to start with the letters. You can remove the buttons using tweezers. To do this, you will need to unclip the vertical mount.
  5. The side mounts must be handled very carefully. They are fragile and can break quickly.
  6. After removing the letter keys, you can move on to the rest. Their fastenings differ in that the button is fixed not on one side, but on two. These are the PgUp and PgDn keys, spacebar and Shift.
  7. Next, remove the black stencil, on which there is an elastic band in the shape of a triangle for each key.
  8. There is a film under the stencil, which is damaged first if water or any other liquid gets on the device.

The stencil must be removed very carefully, since the film layer is very thin and can be easily damaged.

In order to disassemble the keyboard from the computer, you need to separate the keyboard from the computer and photograph it.

Next you need:
  • With reverse side the device bolts are unscrewed using a Phillips screwdriver;
  • after this it is necessary to separate the upper part from the lower part and remove the buttons;
  • It will take more effort to remove the Spacebar, Enter and Shift buttons. They are secured with metal clips.

Under the control panel of the lower part of the device there is a film with contacts. It is very important not to touch it!

Once the device is completely disassembled and all buttons are separated, you can begin cleaning. How to clean your keyboard correctly?

There are several ways:

  1. You can use alcohol-based wipes to clean your keyboard. But this method has one drawback. The cleaning process will take too long for a long time. You will need to wipe each button separately. The main advantage is that after this treatment, the alcohol quickly evaporates from the surface, so you can immediately assemble the keyboard after cleaning.
  2. You can clean the keys very quickly and easily using a hairdryer. To do this, they need to be turned over and blown out. In this way, you can even dry liquid that has been spilled on the keyboard.
  3. You can easily clean not only the keys themselves, but also the space between them using cotton swabs. They can be soaked in isopropyl alcohol. But only in this case, ordinary alcohol cannot be used, it can damage the surface. You can use a simple brush instead of sticks.
  4. To remove dirt from the device, a specialized car vacuum cleaner may be useful. You can also use an aerosol can.
  5. A sticky product, which is a child's toy, will help to clean the device well. This is slime. An experienced computer technician can say: “Thanks to it, I clean the most inaccessible places.”
  6. All buttons can be washed in warm water using any detergent. But before assembling the keyboard, you need to wipe it with a dry cloth.
  7. The large keyboard chip can be wiped with a damp cloth, but it is not recommended to touch the green part.

Before assembly begins, you need to make sure that all buttons are completely dry!

Proper care behind the keyboard and regular cleaning of the buttons will increase the life of the device.

After prolonged use computer keyboard gets very dirty. This problem is especially relevant for people who are used to eating without looking up from their favorite gadget. Even if you eat your food very carefully, crumbs will still settle on the keyboard. If we add to this dust, which certainly settles throughout the room, we end up with a contaminated surface, fertile ground for the growth of bacteria. How to disassemble the keyboard and clean it from dirt? This question is quite relevant.

When should you clean your keyboard?

For a caring owner, dust settled on the surface is enough for cleaning. More alarming symptoms are:

  • keys sticking;
  • dirty stripes and stains across the entire surface of the keyboard;
  • pieces of dirt and crumbs are clearly visible between the keys;
  • When pressing the button they do not respond immediately or there are uncharacteristic sounds.

So, let's start fighting pollution.

Light soiling

This is the simplest case. The algorithm of actions is as follows:

  1. Turn off the computer and disconnect the keyboard.
  2. Use a regular hair dryer or vacuum cleaner to blow out any dust or crumbs.
  3. Using a thin brush, treat the space between the buttons.
  4. Wipe the keys with a lint-free cloth or computer wipe.

Heavy pollution

If the keyboard is very dirty, or even worse, it’s flooded, you’ll have to do some serious work. The following items will be needed:

  • Plastic bag.
  • Old toothbrush.
  • Washing powder (just a little).
  • Phillips screwdriver.

Important! Before disassembling the keyboard, take a photo of the location of the keys. If you have a lot of time and better artistic abilities than Ostap Bender, you can sketch. This is important so as not to have to assemble and disassemble several times.

Disassembling the keyboard

How to remove buttons from the keyboard? - The procedure is as follows:

  1. Disconnect the keyboard from the computer.
  2. Turn it over with the keys facing down and unscrew the bolts.
  3. Carefully remove the bottom cover.
  4. Under the cover there is a film on which contact tracks are applied. You can remove the film by removing the bolts that secure it to the board.
  5. There are elastic contacts above each of the keys. Take them off. It is important to fold them carefully so as not to lose them.
  6. Remove the keys by prying the latch with a screwdriver. There are also metal latches on the Shift or Enter keys. For this reason, be as careful as possible when removing the buttons.
  7. Place the keys in a plastic bag, cover with washing powder and mix. Without removing them from the bag, rinse them under running water.
  8. Rinse the keyboard base under running cold water and clean it with powder using a toothbrush.

Important! The board, film with printed contacts and elastic contacts must not be washed!

After the keyboard base and buttons are washed, they must be thoroughly dried. Assembly is carried out in reverse order:

  1. Insert keys.
  2. Place elastic contacts on each of the buttons.
  3. Reinstall the structure board.
  4. Cover the board with film with contacts and tighten the bolts.
  5. Carefully lay out the cable that comes from the board.
  6. Replace the cover and tighten all screws.

All that remains is to connect the keyboard to the computer. It will look like new!

Disassembling a laptop keyboard

When using a laptop for a long time and not very carefully, problems with the keyboard often arise. The keys “stick”, are difficult to press, and some of them stop responding to pressure altogether.

Perhaps your laptop keyboard just needs preventative cleaning. To do this, it is not at all necessary to send the gadget to the workshop. You can cope with this problem yourself. Let's figure out how to remove the buttons from a laptop keyboard and then put it back together.

Important! The keyboard of a laptop is more difficult to disassemble and assemble than a regular computer keyboard. If you don't have certain technical skills, don't take this job. It's better to pay the master service center than losing an expensive gadget.

Unlike old-style technology, the buttons on modern equipment are flat in shape. The laptop key can be divided into 4 parts:

  1. The top part is a plate with two slots and a latch at the bottom.
  2. Attached to the button are two levers connected in the center (this design vaguely resembles a swing).
  3. In addition, the design is equipped with four pins that fit into grooves on the keyboard board.
  4. The return movement of the key is carried out using a silicone spring.

Important! On the inside of the spring there is a protrusion that ensures the closure of contacts on the base of the keyboard.

To remove the buttons on the keyboard, you will need a regular toothpick and a screwdriver (preferably with a curved end). It is more convenient to remove the keys at the very beginning at the bottom of the keyboard. The algorithm of actions is as follows:

  1. Pry up the bottom edge of the key using a screwdriver.
  2. Carefully remove the lower arms from the grooves. This is quite easy to do. It is enough to press the place where the antennae are connected, and they will leave the grooves.

Important! It often happens that small keys pop out on their own after such manipulations. If this does not happen, the upper plate is removed with tweezers or using your fingers.

  1. Now let's talk about how to disassemble the keyboard in the space bar area. The mechanism of the large spacebar key is somewhat different from the small buttons. Along the edges, the long key is secured with two latches. There is also an additional latch, which is located along the entire length of the key. To remove the large button, first disconnect the side reinforcements, then remove the reinforcements near the bottom edge of the button (from left to right). The further procedure is the same as with small keys.
  2. After you have completely completed the process of removing the keys, you need to thoroughly clean not only the buttons themselves, but also the keyboard mechanism from dirt:
    • A soap solution is best for cleaning buttons;
    • To clean the mechanism from dirt, you can use ear sticks and a toothpick.

Important! Before putting the keyboard back together, all components must be thoroughly dried.

How to reassemble the keyboard after cleaning?

If all the fasteners and grooves remain intact, you can install the button in place without much difficulty.
