Disable everything unnecessary on Android. What is background mode on Android and how to control it? Lightweight programs for Android

Home / Device installation

Background mode in Android OS is the execution of a program that is not visible to the user (runs in the background). In particular, programs launched by the system itself or services run in the background. They don't have user interface, and also these tasks run at a lower priority than normal processes. In addition, applications you installed on your smartphone can run in the background. For the most part, the purpose of running programs in the background is to exchange information with the server. For example: the game constantly contacts the server to check for new updates, the messenger - to notify you of a new message, etc. Background tasks accessing the server requires mobile or Wi-Fi connection to the network, which eats up traffic. Therefore, I will give some tips on how to disable the background mode on Android of all applications at once and each one separately.

Disable data transfer for one application

Essentially, turn off the background system process is not possible, but can be transferred to the “Suspended” process. This is done through the application manager in Android settings apparatus. Also, so that the application in the background cannot access the server, thereby saving battery power and mobile traffic, necessary:

After this, the application will not be able to exchange information with the server. About system applications, for example “SMS” or “Phone”, you cannot disable them. You need the good old one.

Disable data transfer for all applications

To block network traffic For all applications, you need to turn off Wi-Fi and mobile data. You can do this by clicking on the notification panel icons.

The same can be done in the settings:

You can enable the function there.

Even on a new computer, just delivered from the store, there will be several programs that the user does not need. Of course, Windows 7 itself tries to load deeper into RAM, including some never-used services. The user has not yet hit the keys, and his computer is already wasting its power on something unnecessary. How to find and disable unnecessary processes and how to remove them unnecessary programs without harming the computer, we will describe in detail in our article.

Where do you get unnecessary programs on your computer?

Unnecessary programs get onto your computer in several ways:

Even if hard disk space and reserve RAM Enough, unnecessary applications should be removed for security reasons. Many of them, trying to customize their work to the interests and preferences of the user, collect personal information and transfer it to their servers. Sometimes this channel also becomes transparent to malicious software that can disrupt the operation of the computer.

Which programs and processes in Windows 7 can be removed, and which ones should be left alone?

The main rule when deleting unnecessary programs or services: “Know what you are doing!” Before you remove an unfamiliar program, you should figure out what it does and where it came from on your computer. The same applies to Windows services 7.

Removal should take place according to the established procedure, and not by erasing the folder with the program, since otherwise the computer will be clogged with the remnants of unnecessary directories, settings, and browser bookmarks. It is very useful to create a system restore point on the eve of the “big clean”, this will allow you to undo the results of unsuccessful work.

Without fear of negative consequences, you can disable some system services.

How to remove unnecessary programs and services

Most programs can be easily removed standard means Windows 7, for others you should use special applications. Sometimes the manufacturer intentionally installs utilities that the user cannot remove, for example, Disable_Windowsupdate.exe Samsung. Unnecessary services and processes can also be disabled in several ways. However, the first step before seriously cleaning your computer should be to create a point Windows recovery 7 in case of incorrect removal of system components.

Creating a restore point

  • Click the “Start” button and in the right column of the menu that opens, select the “Computer” line.
  • Right-click on “Computer” and in the context menu that opens, find the “Properties” line and select it.
  • In the large “All Control Panel Elements - System” window that appears, select the “System Protection” tab on the left.
  • The “System Protection” tab opens along with the “System Properties” window. At the bottom there is the on-screen button we need “Create”.
  • The process of creating a restore point is almost completely automated. You need to come up with a name in order to later identify the point, and then press the “Create” on-screen button.
  • After the process is successfully completed, the system will notify us that a new point has been created. Now, if something goes wrong, you can “roll back” Windows 7 to this location.
  • "Control Panel"

  • To access the standard deletion service installed programs, click the “Start” button and select “Control Panel” on the right side of the menu.
  • In the large “All Control Panel Items” window that appears, find the “Programs and Features” tab and go to it.
  • By default, a large window opens with the subtitle “Uninstall or change a program”, in the central part of which there is full list programs installed on our computer. We select with the mouse the application that we decided to delete.
  • Immediately after clicking the mouse, active on-screen buttons appear just above the list of programs. We need a "Delete" button. Let's press it.
  • Windows 7 gives us one last chance to change our minds by asking us to confirm the deletion. If the desire remains, click the “Yes” button.
  • After removing some programs, it is better to reboot, which the system will offer at the end of the procedure. You can do this later, when all unnecessary applications and services are removed.
  • "Start"

You can get to the same “Uninstall or change a program” window with a list of applications through the “Start” button, by clicking on it and typing “Uninstall a program” in the search bar. Having selected the menu line of the same name, we get to the desired window, after which we act according to the already known algorithm.

You can also use the uninstaller of the program itself. To do this, click “Start”, then “All Programs”. In the list that opens, select the right application(some are grouped into folders) and right-click on it.

In the context menu that opens, we need the “Delete” line. We press it and we see the “Delete Shortcut” window pop up, warning us that by continuing in the same way, we will delete the shortcut, but will not touch the application.

Let’s listen to the advice and go to the active line “Programs and Features”. This will again take us to the familiar “Uninstall or change a program” window.

    "Task Manager"

  • The "Task Manager" in Windows 7 is called in several ways, including the hotkey combination Ctrl+Shift+Esc.
  • In the “Services” tab you can see all installed system services, including stopped ones. Their status is visible in the “Status” column. Here you can also stop a running utility if you wish, by selecting it in the list and clicking the right mouse button. In the small context menu you now need to select “Stop Service”.
  • From the same tab, you can click on the “Services” button to the large window of the same name, which contains a description of each service and provides buttons to stop them.
  • Task Manager also allows you to view and disable running programs on your computer. The “Processes” tab displays data on running applications, their brief description and consumption of processor and RAM resources. By right-clicking on the name of the extra process, open context menu.
  • To forcefully stop the program, you must select the “End process” item or the on-screen button of the same name at the bottom of the tab.
  • Terminating a process means stopping a specific session of a service or application, but does not affect its running in the future. To prevent the service from being started by the system during the next session, you must disable it.

How to disable services using System Configuration

The list of services can be edited using “System Configuration”, which is called from the command line.

  • Press the Win keys (with the Windows branded flag) and R. In the “Open” input line of the “Run” window that appears, type the msconfig command.
  • After clicking the OK screen button, the “System Configuration” window opens. We need the Services tab.
  • The list of services is now before us. To disable, simply remove the checkbox to the left of the name of all services to be disabled, and then click the “Apply” on-screen button.

Specialized programs for cleaning the system

There is enough small programs, specializing in removing unnecessary applications. Some focus on cleaning the computer from unnecessary folders that are sometimes not noticed by standard Windows 7 tools, others maintain a “black list” of advertising and pre-installed applications, looking for them on the computer. Still others allow fine tuning system services.

PC Decrapifier - cleaning according to the “black list”

PC Decrapifier captivates with its honesty: freeing your computer from unnecessary software, it does not ask you to install it on hard drive himself, but is content with launching with external media. The application is free, new versions are released regularly and the database of unsolicited programs is updated. The interface is simple and intuitive. Before the main stage of work begins, a restore point is created.

  • Having downloaded PC Decrapifier from the manufacturer’s website, we immediately launch the executable file; no separate installation is required. The welcome window prompts you to check for updates. When you first start, this is not necessary, since we already have the latest databases installed, but later this button may be needed. Click the Next on-screen button.
  • We go through the following standard two windows: license and warning, each time clicking Next.
  • PC Decrapifier asks if our computer is new. The point of this question is that a new computer often comes with relatively useful but unnecessary for the user applications, the list of which is constantly updated. The same programs found on a working machine were most likely deliberately installed. We set the answer switch to the question in accordance with the newness of the computer and click Next.
  • Another preliminary step is to create a restore point. If this was not done a little earlier by standard using Windows 7, we agree to the offer. Having dealt with this issue, click Next, moving on to the main stage.
  • After checking the computer, PC Decrapifier checks the list of installed programs with its “black list”. Detected “uninvited guests” are collected on the next window with a proposal to delete them automatically. Here you can read a brief description of the utilities and, if you wish, cancel their deletion by unchecking the box to the left of the name.
  • Just in case, PC Decrapifier shows a list of others installed packages, indicating their publishers. Unlike the previous window, by default all the “birds” are cleared, that is, the program will be deleted only at the user’s request. Moreover, instead of brief description Interactive Help lines with information about applications are available. To add an unnecessary application to the list for deletion, just check the box to the left of its name.
  • All that remains is to click on Next again, and on the next window Finish, having first unchecked the Submit feedback box. The removal process has started.
  • Reboot and check if everything is working correctly. If necessary, use the created restore point.
  • PC Decrapifier by some antivirus programs incorrectly classified as a dangerous application. This is not true, the warning can be ignored. Considering that PC Decrapifier does not require installation, takes up little space and is distributed free of charge, to be completely sure, you can remove it and download it again from the manufacturer’s website.

    CCleaner program

  • CCleaner, a powerful utility for cleaning your computer from unnecessary information, is distributed free of charge, takes up little space on your hard drive, but requires installation.
  • The program remembers where temporary files are stored in Windows 7 itself, as well as in major browsers and many applications. Intuitively clear interface in Russian allows you to run a system analysis to compile a list of what CCleaner considers unnecessary.
  • Uninstalling programs is located in the “Service” tab. The program compiles a list of installed programs, activating the “Uninstall” and “Delete” buttons when selecting a specific application.
  • Here you can edit the startup list, removing unnecessary applications from it.
  • Powerful scanning and removal of indestructible programs with IObit Uninstaller

One more thing free application, specializing in high-quality removal of unnecessary programs. It carefully searches for all traces of the work of the package being removed and cleans them up. IObit Uninstaller allows you to create restore points before each deletion, as well as forcefully remove “resistant” programs.

  • When you first launch the program, you should remove the checkbox at the bottom of the screen so as not to add unnecessary applications to your computer.
  • The application generates a list of installed programs, offering to select candidates for removal. To do this, click the “Delete” on-screen button. If you need to uninstall several applications in one package, check the box next to “Batch uninstall” in the upper right part of the window. Even higher is the “Forced deletion” tab, used for particularly stubborn applications that refuse voluntary erasure.
  • Before clicking the button with the same name on the next window, you can create a restore point by checking the appropriate box.
  • Standard removal is quick. Now the program offers to use its proprietary “Power Scan” function to search for all traces of a deleted application.
  • The search results are presented in the next window. By default, all found elements are marked for deletion; if you want to keep something, just uncheck it. All that remains is to click “Delete”.
  • The last traces of the deleted application are erased from the computer. If for some reason it is necessary to delete information with a guaranteed impossibility of its recovery, you can select “File Shredder” in the menu (the button to the right of the “Forced deletion” option). The process will take a little longer, but sometimes it makes sense to go to such expense.
  • Other programs

    • Should I Remove It? An alternative to PC Decrapifier, which also keeps a list of unnecessary programs. It has a different interface (ratings are highlighted in color), as well as a constant connection with the main site. Simpler, does not provide for editing startup.
    • Slim Computer. Creates a broader list for removal, including browser extensions and plugins. “Kills” unnecessary processes and programs.
    • AdwCleaner. Specializes in removing unwanted elements from browsers. Generates a report as a text file.

Manufacturers and sellers software products spend a lot of effort and money to ensure that their applications are installed on your computer. And they pay much less attention to the complete removal of their packages, and sometimes they deliberately resist this. Therefore, in order to remain the master of your hardware, you need to regularly clean it of uninvited guests.

In this article I continue the theme of optimizing your computer; today we will stop some programs running in the background to speed up and operate your PC.

In the last lesson, we disabled programs from startup (if you haven’t read this lesson, I advise you to start there), thereby increasing performance, and now we will disable Windows services running in the background.

Any of these services can be either system or third-party, but they all eat up a small part of the system’s resources; if you consider that there are several dozen of them, the load increases noticeably.

Of course in most cases system programs working in the background are needed for normal operation computers, but there are some that are not needed at all and are unlikely to be needed by anyone.

When disabling yourself, you need to be extremely careful; when disabling any process, you need to know what it is responsible for so as not to harm the OS. Below I will give a small list of what can be excluded and what can be switched to manual mode.

    What programs can I disable?

To do this you need to log in Service Management by pressing right click click on the My Computer shortcut, which is located on your desktop, or select Computer from the start menu. In the menu that appears, select Control

then click on Services and applications and the last point Services. Here you can see all the necessary and unnecessary programs running in the background; in total, I have more than 150 of them!

First of all, I advise you to look through the entire list and find some familiar programs that you may have installed and simply disable them.

For example: torrent clients µTorrent or BitComet you can safely disable them, unless of course you distribute some files day and night. Program Skype(Skype) if you call once a month, then why will it waste resources every day?

Also with other programs, if there is no need for it to work every minute, feel free to stop it. Do not be confused in any way, disabling a program does not mean it will not work in the future! When you need it, just launch it from the shortcut as you usually do.

Background mode is a standby mode, that is, the program is always running, although not in use.

And finally, the list I promised Windows services which can be disabled for sure or switched to manual mode.

    Parental Control– turn off

KtmRm for distributed transaction coordinator– manually

Adaptive adjustment- disabling brightness is necessary only for PC owners. with built-in light sensor to automatically adjust monitor brightness

WWAN auto setup– disable if you do not have CDMA or GSM modules

Windows Firewall– disable it if your antivirus has this service

Computer browser– translate manually when not used local network

    Support IP Service– turn off

    Secondary login– disable or manually

Dispatcher automatic connections remote access – disable or manually

Print Manager– turn it off if we don’t use the printer

Windows Defender– disable it, a completely unnecessary service

    Distributed Transaction Coordinator– turn off

NetBIOS Support Module– disable, but provided that there is no local network (connection of 2 computers or more)

Setting up a Remote Desktop Server– turn off

Service Bluetooth support – we turn it off, I don’t think this is relevant now.

Download service Windows images(WIA)– if you use a scanner, you don’t touch anything

Remote service Windows management – turn off

    Remote Desktop Service– turn off

    Smartcard– turn off

Tablet PC input service– turn off

Remote registry– everything is generally bad here; there is an opinion that this is a kind of open door for a virus that can change system registry. Definitely disable

Fax– we turn it off, it’s completely a thing of the past.

To disable a service, double-click on it with the left mouse button, a window will open where we change the value Startup type from Automatic to Disabled then Stop//Apply//OK. This is how we deal with every service we dislike.

This is the list of services that I was able to find out about; I will be glad if anyone can add it in the comments to this article.

This concludes this article, but we will continue on the topic of optimization, subscribe to updates so as not to miss it and other subsequent articles.

    Valery Semenov, moikomputer.ru

A new phone is a wonderful thing, but over time it begins to work worse and a lot of glitches appear.

Switching between applications becomes torture, and the battery dies at the most inopportune moment.

If all this seems painfully familiar to you, then it’s worth making efforts, for example, stopping applications running in the background.

Unnecessary applications and processes can significantly slow down your smartphone

    How to control background processes

To do this, you will need to look under the hood of your phone and use the information found there.

This is done differently in each phone, it all depends on your device and version of Android.

In some cases, it is necessary to enable developer features.

    1. In Android versions before Marshmallow, you need to go to Options > About phone and then click on the version number several times, after which a notification will appear that the developer features have been activated.

    2. Then you need to go to the settings called Processes or Process statistics. They can be found in Settings > Developer Options > Processes. This option will list the running processes and how much random access memory (RAM) they are using.

    3. Of course, the first instinct is to disable all applications running in the background, but you should be careful here. Disabling some applications can cause significant harm to your phone.

If you have one of the latest Samsung phones, such as the S7 Edge, you can head to Settings > Developer Features > Running Services and open the list of applications that are eating RAM. There you can switch between running services and cached processes.

In some phones, for example, Meizu M3 Max, you will not be able to enable developer functions using the method described above. In this case, you need to write the name of the phone in Google and add "unlock developer features".

In the case of Meizu, it was necessary to enter ##6961## in the dialer, and then go to Settings > Access > Developer Features > Statistics.

If you're using stock Android Marshmallow or a newer version, you can find the same options and more information at Settings > Memory > Memory, used by applications. You can turn them off here.

What applications can be disabled on Android

All applications marked " Google Services", and in general any application starting with the word Google cannot be stopped.

On the other hand, if, while looking through the list, you notice players and instant messengers draining the battery in the background, you can turn them off without fear. Really serious applications usually won't allow this.

For example, we disabled Kik, Facebook Pages Manager and several other services without any problems. In some cases, you will notice that applications automatically restart.

If you press More details/Settings(depending on the model), you can see how much RAM is taken by cached processes. The same rules apply here.

To get rid of apps that won't shut down (we had Kik), go to Settings > Applications > Application Manager to force quit, or simply delete it.

Rarely used applications are best simply deleted

How to understand why the battery is draining

If you have already taken the steps above, you may have noticed battery information related to each application. But if you look through everything like this, it can take all day.

Instead, head to Settings > Battery. Again, depending on the phone, the names and features may vary, but at a minimum you should see a list of the apps that use the most battery.

Here you also cannot make unnecessary movements. On some phones in the battery section you can see which applications are system applications and which are not; on other phones (like Meizu) the list will be divided into “hardware” and software applications.

In theory, in every new version Android battery functions are improved. In Android Marshmallow, for example, the biggest improvement was Doze, which puts your phone into hibernation mode when the phone is just lying there.

For Android Nougat – Doze 2.0, the function can be activated when the phone is simply not being used.

Samsung (and other companies) often implement features to free up RAM. Some users noted that Doze mode only drained the battery faster, but it's worth a try anyway.

In this menu, you can manually kill applications or activate battery-saving features.

Is it worth using RAM optimization apps?

There is an opinion that the use of “task killers” ultimately does more harm than good. Because this requires keeping a resource monitoring application running in the background, which is somewhat impractical.

Constantly running an app that forcefully closes other apps will naturally drain your phone. It's better not to install it at all.

However, many users claim that you can gain more control by rooting it. If you take this path, we recommend that you pay attention to the Greenify application - it automatically hibernates rooted and non-rooted devices.

If when you turn on your computer, your operating system takes a very long time to load, then the problem is in those programs that open automatically. A whole bunch of applications are running at the same time. This slows down the computer significantly. Therefore you need to disable automatic start applications. We will look at the most popular methods for various systems.

Autostart programs in Windows 7. MSConfig utility.

This method is very simple. Go to the Start menu. Next, enter msconfig in the search bar. Open the first (and only) result.

Here you see a huge list of applications. And they all start at boot. Please review the entire list carefully. Uncheck those utilities that you do not need at startup. Then save your changes and be sure to restart your computer. The OS should load much faster.

Tip: If you accidentally disable some essential utility, don't worry! Just go back and check the boxes in the right place.

How to disable autorun through the registry?

This is the most difficult way. It is better not to do anything in the registry, as you can disrupt the operation of the computer if you do something wrong. So, open the Start menu. Below, in the search bar, enter regedit.

Then find the two Run sections. In the screenshot you can see the full paths. One of them is responsible for automatic launch for the current user, and the other for all users.

Go there and simply remove the components of those utilities that you do not need.

    Programs to disable autorun

There is a utility called Autoruns, it is quite powerful. In it you can find absolutely all applications that launch upon boot.

You can download it from this official website: https://download.sysinternals.com/files/Autoruns.zip.

Then unpack the archive and run the utility. This is what she looks like:

Go to the Everything tab. This means that it contains programs that automatically open on your computer. Afterwards, uncheck the boxes next to those that you want to disable at startup.

    CCleaner utility.

This utility is convenient because, in addition to disabling autorun, it can also remove any junk from the computer, making it even more productive.

You can download it from this site: http://ccleaner.org.ua/download.

Select the required installation. If you don't know which one to choose, then choose the first one.

Disable unnecessary utilities, and they will no longer bother you the next time you start.

This is how you can easily and simply disable any program from startup. The following methods will be discussed for other versions of Windows.

How to disable autorun programs in Windows 8

    Through the system partition.

Hold down keys such as Win + R.

A window like this will open. Type shell:startup, then click OK.

The current user's applications are stored here.

And if you want to open it for all users, then enter shell:common startup.

Now just click on any of the folders that you don't need on startup and delete it.

    Via Task Manager

In the following versions of operating systems, automatic startup is not located in the MSConfig utility, but in the Task Manager. Call up the context menu on the control panel with the mouse and select the item you need.

Select unnecessary application and click on the “Disconnect” button.

In them you simply remove components of unnecessary applications.

    Via Scheduler

Press keys such as Win + R. This will open a window like this. Enter the name taskschd.msc, then click OK.

Each utility, including malicious ones, specifies a startup time. Review the entire list and make any necessary changes if needed.

How to disable autorun programs in Windows 10

For this operating system The methods listed for version 8 are suitable. Even the location of the folders in the registry is the same.

Advice: use any methods other than the registry. Important data is stored there and can be easily damaged. If you don't understand the registry well, it's better not to even go there.

Thus, now no unnecessary applications will interfere with the computer boot. Just don’t disable all the utilities in a row. Of these, some are extremely important for the full operation of the computer.
