  1. Interactive mode

There are two ways to get started in Interactive mode:

    Select Interactive mode in the Device Manager menu (see Fig. 5);

    Press the corresponding button on the Interactive Whiteboard (see Fig. 3)

In interactive mode, you can control your computer directly from the surface of the interactive whiteboard. In interactive mode, the Interwrite Toolbar appears on the right side of the screen.

  1. Office Mode

This mode is designed for working with MS Office documents: MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint. All changes made in this mode are saved in source file document. You have the opportunity to work directly with documents, rather than with screenshots.

To start working in Office mode, you must select Office Mode in the Device Manager menu (see Fig. 5)

Toolbar– the main control element of the interactive whiteboard software. The toolbar is always on the screen and provides access to the software menu. The toolbar contains icons for the most used tools.

The interactive whiteboard software is very easy to use. To get the desired result, you need to remember simple rules:

    Select the required tool (if the purpose of the tool is not clear, just move the mouse pointer to its image and read the hint);

    Perform the desired action (get the result);

The toolbar can be moved around the screen, as well as its size can be changed. To do this, you need to perform the desired operations with the mouse, “grabbing” the boundaries of the Toolbar. For a description of the tools, see Appendix 1. On the Toolbar there is the Toolbar icon (Figure 7). It contains icons for those tools that are used less frequently than the tools on the Toolbar. P

Figure 7. Elements panel

The rules for working with the Toolbar are standard for all tools. Clicking on a tool's image launches its function. For example, when you press the pen, you can make your notes.

Let's look at a few of the most important tools on the Toolbox.

On-screen keyboard

When working with an interactive whiteboard, you often need to use typed text rather than handwritten text. For example, when entering a large amount of text, creating captions for pictures, etc. If you are directly at the board, it is more convenient to use the so-called “On-screen keyboard” (Figure 8). It fully provides the functionality of a regular keyboard.

The on-screen keyboard icon is located in the Toolbox.

In order to switch the on-screen keyboard layout from Russian to English and vice versa, press the marker first Alt, then Shift.

Figure 8. On-screen keyboard

Filming

The Capture tool is used to take a snapshot of the entire screen or part of the screen. The tool is located in the Toolbox.

Capture is necessary for adding notes to the desktop, application windows, open documents or Internet sites. The part of the screen selected using this tool will become available for editing and adding notes. You can choose four options for using this tool (Fig. 9):

Figure 9. Survey tool

    In the Partial mode, using the Shoot cursor, you need to select the area of the screen whose image you want to save;

    In Free Form mode, using a marker, you need to select an arbitrary area of the screen, the image of which you want to save;

    Window mode saves a snapshot of each open window when you hover the cursor over it Shoot;

    Screen mode saves a snapshot of the entire screen. Pictures in this mode are always added to a new blank page.

Spotlight

The Spotlight tool is used to show a small area of the screen and hide the rest. When a tool is selected, the screen turns black (by default) and a circle appears on it, behind which you can see the contents of the page.

The circle cursor can be used to move the circle around the screen to display different parts of the page. A tool settings button will appear at the bottom of the screen. By clicking on it, you can change the shape of the spotlight, as well as the color and transparency of the curtain that covers the rest of the screen.

The spotlight is convenient to use to attract the attention of the audience. When there are several objects on the screen at the same time, you can highlight the object about which at the moment there is a speech and hide the rest.

Sh
torque

The Curtain tool is used to hide a specific part of the screen. The curtain is a rectangular area behind which the content of the page is not visible. “Handles” on four sides of the Curtain allow you to open it to reveal part of the hidden page.

When a tool is selected, its settings panel appears at the bottom of the page.

On it you can select the color and transparency of the curtain, and also expand the curtain to the full screen or close it.

  • In an educational institution, it is recommended that the ActivBoard interactive whiteboard and projector be installed permanently - the projector should be mounted under the ceiling, and

    The ActivBoard interactive whiteboard is mounted on the wall at a height of 80 - 95 cm from the floor - so that it is convenient for the teacher and students to work with it. When installing the projector, it is necessary to take into account that the projected image must fit entirely into the active area of the interactive whiteboard, without going beyond its boundaries.

    The projector connects to the computer via a VGA cable and receives power from an electrical outlet. The ActivBoard interactive whiteboard is connected to a computer via a USB port. It also provides power to the board.

    To start working with the ActivBoard Interactive Whiteboard, you need to install on your computer the distribution kit (installation file) of the ActivInspire software, the ActivBoard Interactive Whiteboard drivers and a systematic set of elements - the “resource library”.

    Software ActivInspire runs on Windows, Macintosh and Linux operating systems, including Alt Linux School.

    The ActivInspire software menu contains extensive cataloged help. Keep the program updated regularly. To do this, go to the menu section “Help” → “Check for updates”. If the Internet is connected to your computer, you can download last file update and then install it on all other computers.

    The ActivBoard interactive whiteboard is operated using a wireless ActivPen, which does not have batteries inside. Pencil replaces functions computer mouse: The tip of the pencil corresponds to the left mouse button, and the button on the edge of the pencil corresponds to the right mouse button. With a pencil you can control your computer - launch software applications, open folders, browse Internet sites, etc.

    Before you start working with the interactive whiteboard, you need to carry it out - correlate the projected image with the electromagnetic coordinate grid built into the board. When calibrated correctly, the mouse cursor and the tip of the pencil should be aligned when placed on the ActivBoard surface.

    Calibration on the ActivBoard interactive whiteboard is carried out in five control points. In order to start the calibration procedure, you need to bring the tip of the ActivPen pencil to the “beacon” in the upper left corner of the ActivBoard interactive whiteboard and move it over it without pressing. The whiteboard calibration function is also available in the ActivManager utility program, minimized on the taskbar as a miniature whiteboard image in the lower right corner of the desktop. Click on the ActivManager shortcut with the tip of a pencil and start the calibration process. For interactive whiteboards of the Touch, 6Touch and 10Touch series (Infrared technology) - calibration is only possible by launching the Calibration item through ActivManager.

    Many image problems can be solved by moving the projector and adjusting its lens. It is advisable to adjust the image so that there are margins of about 1 cm at the edges of the screen.

    The resolutions of the projector and computer must match. Install optimal resolution the projector according to the instructions supplied with it. Then set the same resolution on your computer.

    If the resolutions do not match, the image from the computer will not match the interactive screen and may flicker and be distorted. You can change your computer's screen resolution in your computer's Control Panel (Windows) or System Settings (Mac).

    If more is required detailed information To set your computer's resolution, see Help on your computer's operating system.

    Resetting the interactive whiteboard. If your interactive whiteboard is not working properly (possibly due to battery static electricity or a drop in supply voltage), sometimes it is possible to restore it normal work by performing a reset. If you need to do full reset interactive whiteboard, disconnect and then reconnect the USB cable, and if you are using an expansion module, turn off the power to it and then turn it on again. This resets all components of your SMART Board interactive whiteboard.

    Reset button. The Reset button located on the edge of the controller module allows you to reset the controller with one click. The Reset button is recessed so that it cannot be pressed accidentally. This button can be pressed with the tip of a pencil or other pointed object, such as a ballpoint pen. The Reset button can be pressed if

    The controller is not responding or is not working properly. For example, your interactive whiteboard may stop responding due to electrostatic discharge or power loss. After pressing the Reset button, the controller starts working normally.

    Figure 6.1 - Reset button

    If you press the Reset button and hold it down for more than three seconds, all previously saved 4- or 9-point orientation data will be deleted from the controller's memory, resulting in the factory settings being restored. And the 20-point orientation data is stored in the computer, so resetting the controller does not affect it.

    Troubleshooting the Ready Light

    If you have a problem with your interactive whiteboard, you can use the Ready Light and observe the symptoms to help you find the Ready Light and become familiar with its status during normal operation.
