Connecting your phone to a computer via wifi. Connecting your phone to a computer via Wi-Fi

Home / Installing programs

Hi all. Today we’ll look at transferring files via WiFi between Android phones. Since nowadays transmission via Bluetooth is already last century Due to the extremely low transfer speed, it will still work to transfer a couple of photos/songs, but transferring a video clip is already a problem. And this is where WiFi comes to the rescue. But, there is a small but. If in the case of Bluetooth - everything is extremely simple and clear, turn it on on both devices and transfer it to yourself, then with Wi-Fi it’s not so simple, but nevertheless easy and simple. And now we will find out how to do this.

How to transfer files over WiFi

Well, firstly, it’s worth noting that you can transfer files over Wi-Fi in different ways, using different applications, of which there are quite a large number, I will only consider only one of them, but, in my opinion, the most convenient and relevant, since the software we need, without which nothing will work, is installed on many users.

So, first— first, go to the Play Market and install on both devices file manager ES Explorer, if you don’t already have it installed, of course :)

Second— create a WiFi access point on one of your Android devices. This can be done both through the phone’s system settings and through ES Explorer. Let's take a closer look:

Yes, it is worth noting that if you are already on the same network, say, connected to the same router, then you will not need to go through the above procedure for creating an access point; you can immediately proceed directly to transferring files via Wi-Fi.

Create an access point using Android:

I do this on the phone from which I want to transfer, although it makes no difference, you can create an access point on any device, the main thing is that both devices are on the same network. So, go to settings -> Wireless networks -> Personal access point -> and activate the personal access point - select the WLAN method:

The path to this menu and its appearance may be slightly different, since I have version 4 of Android, which is on at the moment slightly outdated, on new ones it will be slightly different, but nevertheless the essence remains the same.

On another phone, we connect to this Wi-Fi network, as usual, by finding the network and entering the required password, which will be displayed on the screen as you create the point.

Option 2 - Create an access point using ES Explorer:

Launch ES manager - go to the menu - to do this, click on 3 horizontal lines in the upper left corner (again, after the release of ES Explorer updates, the menu and appearance of the application may be partially modified, but the essence does not change):

and look for the “Network Manager” item:

Next, select “Create an access point”:

after which the application will create an access point and display its name and access password:

That's all. The network is installed. In fact, it may seem that everything is quite complicated and confusing, but it is not so, everything is very simple and fast. Try it once or twice, all these preparations will be done in a matter of seconds.

Let's move on to the most interesting...

How to transfer files via WiFi

1. Launch ES Explorer on both Android devices.

2. On the phone from which you will transfer, select necessary files— using a long tap, the selection mode is activated, and then, if you need to select several, simply select the other files you need:

3. Select everything you need, press three vertical dots in the upper right corner (1) and select “Send” (2):

4. In the next window, select the item “Access via LAN”:

5. The application will scan available devices, if it appears immediately, then the window can be hidden by clicking the “Hide” button...

6. and, if you did everything correctly in the previous steps, it will give you a list of available device(s), select it by checking the box (1) and press the extreme button in the upper right corner (2):

7. On the receiving device, ES will display a message that someone is trying to transfer you such and such file(s) - click “OK” - Let me remind you that ES Explorer must be open on another phone :

9. After which the actual sending/receiving process will begin...

10. Finally, a window will appear indicating the successful completion of the operation, where you can immediately open the transferred file or open the folder with the file:

The speed, of course, is many times better than in the case of Bluetooth, but, nevertheless, a film, say one and a half gigs, will be transmitted for some time - about 10-15 minutes. The transfer speed fluctuates, in my practice, somewhere from 1.5 to 3 Mb/sec. But, one way or another, this is, in any case, a great way to quickly and conveniently, without any cords, and transferring large files from flash drive to flash drive. So try it and enjoy it for your health.

Well, that’s all I have on the topic of transferring files via WiFi between Android devices. If you have questions, ask, I will help as best I can.

From a fixed router. But what to do if your mobile device already has high-quality high-speed Internet and you don’t really want to spend extra money on “classic” WiFi.

Most of those who become owners for the first time Android tablet or smartphone, sooner or later they wonder: how to connect Android device to a computer via WiFi?
If you are tired of transferring files from personal computer to an Android device and back using a flash drive or memory card, or you dream of watching movies and listening to music from your PC via WiFi, these couple of methods will help you using well-known programs from Google Play Store A.

Download latest version programs ES File Explorer and install it on your Android device.
After launching the program, you will see the main menu of the program and a list of files on your SD card. If the card is not inserted, the program will display a message that the card is missing. In this case, you can switch to viewing files in the tablet’s internal memory by clicking the large button at the top left with the image of a memory card.
In order to display network environment, click on the small button labeled “PDA” located in the upper left corner of the window and in the menu that appears select the “LAN” item (local computer network). A new empty window will open to display a list of network resources.

To scan your network environment, click the button with the image of a magnifying glass, after which the network scan will begin.
After the scanning is completed, a list of servers (computers) with their network addresses will appear on the screen.
If your computer is not found during scanning, you can add it manually. To do this, go to menu -> create -> server, and in the window that opens, enter network address computer or folders on it, login, password, server name. If a login and password are not needed, check the “anonymous” box. It is not necessary to enter the server name. If you did not enter a name, the address entered in the first field will be displayed instead in the list of network resources.

We press the OK button, and we see how a new server has appeared in the list of network resources; by tapping on it, we will see its folders and drives to which network access is open.
All. Now you have the ability to copy and open files on remote computer via local network.
If you gain access to a computer running Windows control-7, fails, try in Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Additional options shared access, check the box next to “Disable general access with password protection." And make sure that the “Turn on network discovery” and “Turn on file and printer sharing” options are also enabled.
Also, do not forget to enable sharing in the properties of the drive or folder to which you want to give access over the network and set permissions for users, if this option is available.

Total Commander, as you know, is a classic two-panel manager, and in order to copy a file over the network, we need to open a folder located on the computer on one panel, and the local tablet folder on the second, and then simply drag required file from one panel to another.

First of all, we need to install the application itself. Total Commander can be downloaded.

After this, you will need to add a plugin to the program to work on the local network. To do this, click on the “Add plugins (Download from website)…” item in the main program window:

After which a window will open asking you to go to the plugin download page:

Click the “OK” button, after which the browser will start and the following page will open in it:

In the window that opens, select Play Store

The LAN plugin window will open in the Play Store. Click on the “Install” button
After installing the plugin, the LAN icon (Windows shared network directories) will appear on the Total Commander main screen:

Using this item, you will navigate to files and folders on your computer. However, first, we need to access it. To do this, click on the above icon and add a new server to the list of computers by clicking on the corresponding icon:

In the window that opens, type:
The name of your computer as you want to see it in the list:
Computer network name or network address, username and password:

You do not need to set a username and password if your computer has network access to folders and directories for all users.
To find out the network address of your computer, click on the WiFi connection icon with the second mouse button and select “Status”, and in the window that opens, click on the “Details” button.

In the IPv4 Address line you will see the network address of your computer.

If you cannot access a computer running Windows 7, try in “Control Panel” -> “Network and Sharing Center” -> “Advanced sharing settings” and check the box next to “Turn off password sharing” protection."
Also, make sure that the “Turn on network discovery” and “Turn on file and printer sharing” options are also enabled there.

Also, do not forget to enable sharing in the properties of the drive or folder on the computer to which you want to give access over the network and set permissions for users, if this option is available.

USB cable

First turn on your phone and laptop, then connect the phone to the cable, and connect the cable to the USB port on the laptop. The cable itself usually comes with the phone and a disk with drivers and a program for controlling the mobile phone from a computer. But it depends on the model.

Once connected, Windows will open the Add Hardware Wizard. During the process, the operating system will “see” your phone’s flash drive, as well as the modem if you have a smartphone. The program for working with your phone via a computer depends on the brand of your mobile phone, for example, for Nokia it is Nokia Suite. In addition to transferring photos, music and video files, you can access the Internet this way.

Bluetooth

Connecting your phone to your laptop via Bluetooth works like this: turn on " Blue tooth" on your phone and run a program for working with Bluetooth on your laptop. If you don’t find one on it, then go to the website of your computer manufacturer.

In this program, turn on the search for new devices and when you find your mobile device, connect to it. You may be asked to create and enter a code on your phone and laptop to create a connection. Via Bluetooth you can also surf the World Wide Web.

Set any “network name”, set “WEP” in the security type, enter the password, check the “Save settings for this network” checkbox and click “Next”.

Again, go to “Change adapter settings”, on the connection we created, right-click the menu and click “Properties”, where in the “Access” tab we check “Allow other users to use the Internet connection of this computer", click "OK".
